I think that the people who 100% hate on this thing and call it shitty and awful, are kind of unappreciative assholes. It doesn't make some of their points any less valid, but when you are calling the yearlong project of scores of people completely worthless, you are probably a dicknugget, or at least a little insensitive to the effort of other people in proportion to the quality. On the other hoof, yes, I see a lot of valid points made; reference heavy, light plot, ppg out of nowhere, slightly jarring voice acting, I get that. I can see what they're saying. Buuuuuuuuut
I friggin loved it anyway. I enjoyed spotting every reference, I just ran with the plot, I (as a major ppg girl as a kid) squeed myself over the sudden cameo (and Dan) I loved seeing the PPG back in motion, and I loved their interactions. I think really, whether you like it boils down to whether you like referencing constantly, how far you can suspend your disbelief, and whether you mind that they hid the plot twist and whether you mind it. It's all a matter of opinion, not on it's quality, but on it's enjoyability.
But regardless of whether you like it or loathe it, you have to respect it for being a collaboration of people who all came together to make a feature length fan ep. All the effort put in, all the animation in it's almost show glory, all the love poured into every scene.
And to call them talentless awful people for making a silly for fun non profit show that they slaved on for a year? That's just kind of mean in general. It may not have been the best to you, but I loved it to bits and I hope you're here, Flamingo, because I don't know how you're dealing with the backlash, but I want you to know that you made something I won't forget.
damn that sounds sappy, and I just realized how the latest comment would be from april. Oh well, fuck it, I already wrote this out.
