Howdy Everypony! :iconbummiesplz:

I won't take up any more of your time - it has been a year, after all, since I began this little project of mine.

Have some Double Rainboom! www.youtube.com/watch?v=26BQ0H…

Feel free to leave your reviews/critiques of the episode in the comments below!

Thanks!

I think that the people who 100% hate on this thing and call it shitty and awful, are kind of unappreciative assholes. It doesn't make some of their points any less valid, but when you are calling the yearlong project of scores of people completely worthless, you are probably a dicknugget, or at least a little insensitive to the effort of other people in proportion to the quality. On the other hoof, yes, I see a lot of valid points made; reference heavy, light plot, ppg out of nowhere, slightly jarring voice acting, I get that. I can see what they're saying. Buuuuuuuuut
I friggin loved it anyway. I enjoyed spotting every reference, I just ran with the plot, I (as a major ppg girl as a kid) squeed myself over the sudden cameo (and Dan) I loved seeing the PPG back in motion, and I loved their interactions. I think really, whether you like it boils down to whether you like referencing constantly, how far you can suspend your disbelief, and whether you mind that they hid the plot twist and whether you mind it. It's all a matter of opinion, not on it's quality, but on it's enjoyability.
But regardless of whether you like it or loathe it, you have to respect it for being a collaboration of people who all came together to make a feature length fan ep. All the effort put in, all the animation in it's almost show glory, all the love poured into every scene.
And to call them talentless awful people for making a silly for fun non profit show that they slaved on for a year? That's just kind of mean in general. It may not have been the best to you, but I loved it to bits and I hope you're here, Flamingo, because I don't know how you're dealing with the backlash, but I want you to know that you made something I won't forget.

damn that sounds sappy, and I just realized how the latest comment would be from april. Oh well, fuck it, I already wrote this out.

Thanks a lot! :iconbummiesplz: I agree with everything you said. We did a lot of things wrong, like bad pacing, a little too many references, hiding the plot twist, and not staying canonical - and we learned from that. But as you said, it's still an impressive feat and a lot of fun to watch. We're handling the negative backlash just fine, so fine in fact that we're already pretty far along in our next production: "True Tail".

I saw that and it looks awesome!
Honestly I'm just glad you aren't upset by what people say. I'm kind of a bleeding heart, so I just couldn't deal with that, I'm glad you can. I really hope true tail turns out to be just as enjoyable for me as double rainboom

I figured it would suck, since all I heard was that it was fanmade. Never been so wrong about a video. I swear to god, I laughed so freaking hard that I think a few brain cells leapt out of my nose. Especially at the part with Pinkie Pie at the end.

ok, many things here made me LMAO. 1: The thing where Rainbow made a portal through the fabric of TV, and went to Cartoon network, and went into power puff girls. Did not expect THAT. 2: The thing where Rainbow made the monster start crying, then got beat up by the PPG's after he said sorry. I was also making the same face Rainbow was making while that was happening. 3: The part where Pinkie Pie said the fabric of reality and the potion tasted like snoz berries. What's a snoz berry, anyway? And finaly, 4: When PP pulled Bloo from fosters Home for Imaginary Friends into the scene. The things PP can do... And the things YOU came up with, Zachary! (I just noticed we have the same first name! :P Not kidding.) Amazing animation. You sir, are epic. /)Bro-Hoof(\

I saw it, and what I can say: that was WONDERFUL! INCREDIBLE! UNBELIEVABLE! AMAZING! FABULOUS! The best animated short ever made. Mister, you deserve a citation for achievement ! You have a great place among the next generation of animation developers coming right now.

Also, putting up the characters from Cartoon Network and Hasbro, is a stroke of genius; provided, of course, legal authorization to use them in your film. This is a day that will be remembered for all times.

Now, what about the Ballad of Mecha Pinkie? It's still incomplete. Any way to finish this story?

Not sure how people can hate on this episode. It was a fine effort!

The fact that you even finished it at all was amazing to me, and while it has flaws, it's no less of an episode because of them. The moral was solid, but the story benefited from that being secondary to the comedy and action.

I loved all the little references sprinkled about, and the fact that you guys really matched the feel of both MLP and PPG was just unbelievable. :D

I really you and the team do another episode sometime, though I suppose after working on this for a year you're anxious to start doing other things. ;)

I don't know why so many people are upset. Sure, you did an unexpected crossover, but that made it 2 times as awesome in my opinion. I thought it was amazing overall.
Good work, friend.

i've seen double rainboom a few hours ago and i gotta say good job, you got the pony characters okay

i loved the first bit :D it was good until the second bit...with townsville

but i didn't like the PPG behaviour, their antagonistic role was a pretty Major big disappointment , they could of been friends with rainbowdash and Helped her get home instead of being pesky and cruel

of though the ending was good with pinkie pie bringing rainbow back to their dimension, dashie learning her lesson...and pinkie revealing she "kidnapped" blooregard :XD:

i give it a 7/10, 6 (first part) + 1 (second part) = 7

Hi! You probably saw my name in the animation credits of the Bronies documentary as well as for the 'Children of the Night' video I'm currently doing.

First of all, Thank you.. thank you for that extra episode in what was, after all, a very short season for all of us. This was an unbeleivable acheivement that has not happened in any fandom as far as I know: A full fan-made episode. The effort, dedication and raw willpower that it must have taken to acheive this goal does not fall on a deaf ear as managing and keeping track of every aspect of a project is definitely a tall order.

Especially one of that scope.

It is not a perfect project and while it has its flaws, I probably would have made some of them myself. (Heck, some Hasbro-approved episodes of season 3 were not exactly high-quality in my eyes either)

But instead of pointing the flaws, which has already been spent on way too much (He gets it everyone.. mistakes are NEEDED to get better) I'll say this:

For a first time episode manager/maker.. you did AWESOME! The project was completed! You took care of such a huge team of different animators from different backgrounds that it could have come out a lot worse but I watched it to the end! Thrice at the time of this writing!

Your timing for comedy is good too! I laughed even knowing some of the few jokes in there! That can't be bad.

You didnt turn the thing into a Duke Nukem Forever (which took forever to come out). The backgrounds team did a spectacular job as well. Their work was seamless. My favorite parts are the explanations with the simplified ponies.. the timings, the music and the camera work in those segments were really great!

I would like to spend time on animation but I can't do it without doing a shot-by-shot analysis per animator of what worked and what didnt. But again, managing that kind of team and coming out with what we have seen is an amazing feat. One that very few can appreciate the value of.

I'm already very grateful this fandom shows what being a fan means and the extent to which it can take it. I'm aware my own project will be judged on the same harsh criterias as well.

It won't be perfect! But I'll darn well try! Best of luck in your future endeavours Zach! You have MY thumbs up :D

I tried to leave some feedback on the YouTube video, but it's already been burried under the waves of "creative discussion", and the character limit forced me to abridge my thoughts just a bit. I think it's absolutely amazing as far as fan-made animations go. You and your team clearly worked very hard to make it look and sound as close to studio quality as you could, so good job all around there! Though I gotta say, with your production values set so high, I was really expecting a better plotline.

Why bother destroying Ponyville if it was completely irrelevant to the story? If you were gonna go that route and have Rainbow learn a lesson from it, you would have done better to actually focus on the disaster and its consequenses. That way you could have had a more fitting moral, like "take responsibility for your mistakes".

But if you just really wanted to do a cross-over, why not have the moral come from Rainbow's experiences in Townsville. Since the PPG were trying to take something that wasn't their's (Rainbow Dash), that would fit better with your established moral anyways. And in that case, destroying Ponyville was pointless, and I see no reason Dash couldn't have broken through the dimensional barrier at a safer distance.

While I would say you wrote the ponies very well, the PPG just seemed overly cruel. Granted, they did brutally beat the tar out of tons of people, animals, and monsters in the show, but they were still good natured. They even had friendly relationships with some of the villains. Strangely the scenes in the credits felt more acurate to how the characters should have interacted than the actual episode did.

I liked the reference jokes at first, but I think you got a little carried away, and you could have given the locations better atmosphere by including more background characters. Townsville was pretty empty.

All that said, you and your team put forth a phenomenal effort, and I :salute: you all. You've really inspired me, and in time I hope to make some fanimations that are even half as good.

I mean the ones that tear it apart, I saw bronies that hated it because it wasnt like an original episode. I tell them "let me see you do better then"

One does not have to be able to perform a task, or perform it better, in order to critique another's performance thereof. "Let me see you do better" is really not a valid response.

Double Rainboom wasn't bad because it wasn't "like an original episode". It was touted as The First Fan-Made Episode, then ended up not living up to that hype. It is a beautifully-animated, well-acted, well-scored pile of pointless fandom and pop culture references. It was not what many of us were led to believe it would be. Yet even had it not come with all of that lead-up, it still would have been disappointing due to the poor writing and reference-throwing. In short, not what some people like.

interesting how a big amount of people on both EQD and youtube are 100% negative on this. i don't get them. even if they dont like it, at least they should have the respect for a project of a years time to give at least a bit of positive criticism. i hope this doesn't bug you as much as me, cause i am in fact a bit angry.

how i liked it? it was genius. the crossover? did not expect that, a bit sceptical at first, but you did good! the references? a bit too much but nothing that really bugged me. the story? i dont get why so many people are complaining about it. if you look at the canon show storys, they'rere all shallow, at least a bit. only people are interpreting them over and over again, overanalysing everything. which they dont do as much for fanmade stuff, interesting enough (at least thats what i experienced). i myself was pleased with the story, and overall amazed of what you did. nothing flawless, but impressing, most impressing. bravo!
